How To Use It
The SteriShoe UV Shoe Sanitizer is extremly simple to use. You simply place the device inside your shoes. You plug the device in, and then press a button to start the treatment cycle. The device will go through standard safety checks and then power on for the 15 minute treatment cycle. At this point up to 99.9% of the harmful microbes and germs inside your shoe have been destroyed and the device will turn off automatically.
As the device is in the shape of a shoe tree getting in and out of shoes is extremely easy. You can even leave it inside your shoes for extended period of time if you wish.
The SteriShoe UV Shoe Sanitizer has been clinically proven to destroy microorganisms in shoes with its germicidal ultraviolet (UVC) light. When most of us think of UV light, we think of suntans, sunburns and skin cancer. Those are UVA and UVB ray's that we hear about most often. UVC, such as that is used by the SteriShoe sanitizer, is a wavelength in the UV light spectrum which is completely filtered by our atmosphere. However, the SteriShoe sanitizer is not the first device to use UVC light, in fact UVC has been used in hospitals and water treatment systems for decades. The ability of UVC's to destroy germs and microroganisms is very well known within scientific and medical communities across the globe.
Safety of UVC light and the SteriShoe UV Shoe Sanitizer
Ultraviolet light can be harmful if you look at it or bring it close to your skin. For these reasons, a variety of safety features have been designed and built into the SteriShoe®sanitizer to prevent the lamp from lighting when it is not enclosed in a shoe.
