Who Is Dr. Randhawa?
Dr. Amandeep Randhawa, podiatrist, was born in Burnaby and raised in East Vancouver. She went to McBride Elementary and then Gladstone Secondary School before enrolling at The University of British Columbia where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology degree.
Dr. Randhawa has always had a passion for helping people and from an early age knew she enjoyed working with her hands. At the age of 13 her mother was having foot pain and saw a podiatrist in Vancouver. Dr. Randhawa was fascinated and it quickly became clear that podiatry was a perfect fit for her!
Given there are no podiatry schools in Canada she knew she would have to venture to the USA to further her education. It quickly became apparent to her that the most respected of all podiatry schools was Temple University. A large university in Philadelphia Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine was Dr. Randhawa's home for 4 years as she worked to earn her Doctor Of Podiatric Medicine Degree.
Following graduation in 2008 Dr. Randhawa was honoured to be accepted to a 3 year residency program in foot and ankle surgery based out of Los Angeles, California. Dr. Randhawa experienced some of the best podiatry training in the world over the course of these 3 years. She spent 17 months at Kaiser Permanente - a leading hospital organization in the USA well known for training some of the best doctors in the world. She was also fortunate to be able to spend time at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Loma Linda where she had extensive training in wound care as well as further surgical and medical training. Fortunately Dr. Randhawa's residency training was very well rounded and included time spent in the offices of some highly successful and well trained podiatrists throughout the Southland area.
Upon the completion of her residency training Dr. Randhawa was invited to join a premier private practice in Los Angeles. Though she enjoyed her time in Los Angeles, she constantly missed Vancouver and in December 2012 made the move back home.
Since returning to Vancouver Dr. Randhawa has established Metro Vancouver Podiatry and quickly become very active in the community. She has been a guest writer for an English language newspaper The Indo-Canadian Voice where she previously wrote weekly articles called Focus on Feet and now contributes as requested. She has appeared on radio stations such as RJ1200 and RedFM to discuss the basics of foot and ankle care. In April of 2013 Dr. Randhawa was elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the BC Podiatric Medical Association and served as secretary for the association for 10 years. Always dedicated to the community Dr. Randhawa is a Clinical Director of the Fit Feet Special Olympics program and helps to organize the ShoeRenu program in Vancouver. She also maintains privileges at Vancouver General Hospital, Podiatry Department. Dr. Randhawa has given multiple presentations to the public on the topic of foot health/care including at The Wellness Show, the Italian Cultural Centre, and Metro Vancouver. She has been interviewed by various news stations and websites and you will find her quotes sprinkled about many articles related to foot health!
In her free time Dr. Randhawa enjoys spending time outdoors, engaging in crafts (knitting is her current craze!), reading and spending time with her adorable son to whom she is a solo parent. Apart from being a mom her greatest passion and focus is healing feet all over the Metro Vancouver area!
