Do I Need a Referral?

You do NOT need a referral to see a podiatrist in British Columbia. You are always welcome to request a referral from you family doctor. If we receive one, our office will contact you for an appointment. To book directly you can call any of our locations or request an appointment online.

Do I have to Pay for my visit?

Unfortunately general podiatry is not a benefit of the Medical Services Plan of BC. As such most patient’s will be charged for their visits. However select services are partially subsidized and most extended health plans will reimburse you a portion, or all, of what you end up paying. We always recommend you check your coverage for podiatry visits as well as custom foot orthotics prior to your visit.

Also, select patients may qualify for MSP supplementary benefits (previously premium assistance). If you qualify your visits are subsidized to $23. You are responsible for the balance of the visit fee. Please also note that the government limits the number of visits you can have subsidized - generally 10 visits per year across multiple disciplines.

You may also have coverage through First Nations Health Authority, Department of Veterans Affairs, WorskSafe BC or ICBC.

If you have any questions about your coverage please feel free to ask, we are here to help!

Do you make orthotics?

Absolutely! Not everybody requires custom foot orthotics, but for those who do they can be life changing. There are a wide variety of styles of orthotics, and we can help you fit a device into your steel toe boots or your stilettos! We will review with you all the various options and each pair of orthotics is a completely customized device for you. To make orthotics we perform a thurough gait analysis and biomechanical exam and then take measurements of your feet. This is generally done by a 3D laser scan, though sometimes we will cast you using plaster of paris or use other methods. Each pair of feet is as unique as the process to make orthotics for those feet!

Do you treat Kids?

Yes. We treat feet regardless of their age! Many children have pain or abnormalities to their feet which can interfere with their ability to live a happy healthy childhood. We are here to help them!

Yes - to some extent. Dr. Randhawa underwent an extensive three year surgical residency training program in Los Angeles after graduating from school and before returning to Vancouver. She is well trained in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery. Until late 2021 Dr. Randhawa was offering full surgical services. With the changes in surgical regulation in BC, as well as after the birth of her first child, Dr. Randhawa has decided to limit her surgical practice. She is currently only offering office based surgeries - for example, ingrown toenails, warts etc. For things that require a full operating room set up (bunions/hammertoes/etc.) Dr. Randhawa can review with you the surgical course and refer you to either a podiatrist who is still doing surgery or an orthopedic surgeon. One of the most important decisions a person can make is to decide on if they need surgery or not. Dr. Randhawa will talk to you about all your options and help come up with the most appropriate treatment plan - surgical or non-surgical.
